Programs in Each Undergraduate and Graduate School
Students may take courses offered by Kyushu University’s undergraduate and graduate schools. Graduate students who wish to do research may request research supervision.
Most of the subjects are taught in Japanese, so students will be required a Japanese language proficiency of Level 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or the equivalent level.
Some undergraduate and graduate schools offer courses taught in English. If the school of your choice offers enough courses taught in English, we will accept students whose English language proficiency is demonstrated by a TOEFL score of at least iBT 79 or IELTS 6.0.
Classes Conducted in English for Exchange Students
To apply, you must be nominated by your university as a prospective exchange student. First, contact exchange program officers at your university to express your interest. Upon being formally nominated, complete the designated form through Kyushu University’s online application system.

Japan in Today’s World (JTW)
This program is for undergraduate students majoring in any subject. Courses are taught in English. We will accept students whose English language proficiency is demonstrated by a TOEFL score of at least iBT 79 or IELTS 6.0.

Japanese Language and Culture Course (JLCC)
This program is for undergraduate students majoring in Japanese studies at their home institution. Courses are taught in Japanese. Exchange students will be required a Japanese language proficiency of Level 1of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or the equivalent level. (JLPT N2 Level would be acceptable)
